Edible Flowers Seed Collection
Edible flowers are a magical ingredient that children can use to decorate cakes, drinks and dishes. So why not grow them from scratch?
The Edible Flowers seed collection comprises three seed packets:
- Blue Pepe Nasturtium - a unique variety bred specifically for culinary use. The name is derived from its stunning steel-blue leaves with purplish undersides. The flowers are also edible and their bright red hue makes them a fun addition to salads as well as being perfect for garnishing stir fries. The leaves have a slightly peppery taste reminiscent of watercress.
- Blue and White Borage - also known as starflower, it is an edible ornamental and medicinal plant. It is a favourite of many pollinators and the beautiful flowers have a sweet, honey-like taste that makes them great for decorating cakes and drinks. They look stunning when frozen in ice-cubes and added to drinks on a hot summer day!
- Erfurter Orangefarbige Calendula - a variety bred for its medicinal properties. The bright orange flowers have a mild and slightly sweet taste that makes them perfect for both sweet and savoury dishes. The dried petals can be used to create a natural dye or to add to home-made lip balms and creams.
The seeds are of certified standard, non-GMO and non-hybrid. The latter is particularly important to us as we believe that it is good for children to witness the whole seed-to-seed cycle and learn to grow from seeds that they have picked from the plants they originally grew (when possible!).
The packaging of the seeds is also very eco-conscious with heat-sealed paper envelopes and contains a description of the plant and how to grow it best.
